Many of you know me as the #getwhatyouwant woman. I branded myself with that hash-tagline, though somewhat gingerly, because I definitely do not mean get what you want, without regard for others. And, no one gets what they want 100% of the time. I thought it might be helpful to explain what I do mean when I say “get what you want”.
“Get what you want” is an empowering mindset. It means take the lead and ask for what you want, because you seldom get it without asking. It means create what you want, because it isn’t often just given to you by someone else. It means take action to get what you want because wishing, trying and hoping won’t bring it to you. It means know what you want, because if you don’t know what you want, you surely won’t know when “it” arrives. It suggests a mindset of you believing you are worthy of getting what you want and as you ask, create, know and believe, the Universe meets you halfway in all its boundless energy and infinite possibilities. Opportunities appear and you are able to see them as such. Coincidences show up that let you know the Universe heard you loud and clear.
If you wish, want, hope for or try to get something you are sending the Universe a message that is wishy-washy and indecisive. If you place pictures of what you want in your mind, on your vision board, tell it to friends and write about it in your journals and affirmations, but do not also firmly believe it’s possible to have it AND that you are worthy to receive it, you are sending the universe a giant, mixed message. Vague and mixed messages prevent what you want from coming to you.
Figure out what makes you happy.
Know what you want to bring into your life.
Believe, without limitations, that it’s possible for you to have it, become it, achieve it.
Accept that “it” may not show up exactly as you expected but definitely as you need it to.
Believe that you are worthy of having that which you desire to be, do and have.
Take action, action and more action.
Take action before you fully figure it out and before you fully believe it’s possible. Small successes make you believe that bigger success is possible. Be who you want to become even before you fully arrive!
Get what you want doesn’t mean that you will, in every situation, get what you want. Get what you want is a mindset that says you believe in yourself. You are not available to be taken advantage of, toyed with, lied to, misled, trodden on or abused. It is a mindset of positivity. You are teaching people how to treat you. You are setting your expectations. You are firmly kind and kindly firm. And with this mindset, you will get what you want. For the things you want most, the “get what you want” mindset, partnered with action and tenacity, will see that you get what you want.
