Recently, I have been focusing on getting crystal clear on what my client’s biggest problem is in order to make sure I’m facilitating the solution to that. I know exactly who she is, what she does and where she hangs out. I know her spirit and where she wants to go.
I have studied business and psychology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, am certified as both a Strategic Intervention coach and relationship/divorce prevention coach through Anthony Robbins coach training program, graduated from an entrepreneurship training program, studied with a mentor coach, am currently completing a certificate in positive psychology and happiness and working with two unbelievably awesome coaches, Becky Tsaros Dickson and Jenn Scalia. I understand why we think, act and feel the way we do and I know how to put a solid business plan together. I have held upper management positions in both for profit and nonprofit organizations.
In fact, I landed my dream job just 5 years out of an MBA program. However, I found out within the first year that it wasn’t my dream. It showed me that I wanted something completely different, as I sat in my office pondering my student loan debt and wondering what my baby was doing as she spent her day with a sitter. And how do I tell my very practical family that my soul says I’m meant to do something else?
What I was looking for was permission. Permission to use my educated brain but more importantly my heart and soul to go find my true calling. Thankfully I was “restructured” (due to a merger) out of that job at the end of my second year and was given permission by my supportive tribe to spend some time searching, learning and starting again. Enter the psychology programs, coach training and an amazing mentor coach. I began to write self-help books and workbooks. I never stopped, even though I did return to a corporate job for seven years when the economy took a huge downturn, but thankfully, I was “restructured” out of that one too.
The Universe said once again, go do what you are meant to do! It gave me permission. In fact, it gave me insistence.
And that is how I help others. I show women how to give themselves permission and make sure they feel supported as we excavate, rewrite their story and plan so they, too, can successfully transition to whatever makes their soul sing.
In case no one else has given you the gift of permission to follow your heart, I give you permission.
